Here at W.A.Green, colour is part of our DNA. It’s something that excites us and we couldn’t imagine a world without it. Each month, we’re going to be focusing on a colour, giving you the low down and telling you exactly how to work it. First up in this new series is, you guessed it, one of the world’s favourites, it’s blue. Let’s get on with this blue sky thinking, eh?

Blue is commonly associated with trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence and faith. All key qualities in our eyes. It has a calming effect on the mind and body and has also been said to improve health, making it an ideal colour for an office or a vibrant space such as a kitchen or bathroom. One of our favourites is Painthouse’s Aria Blue; ‘A young and sprightly cobalt blue paint, she’s a primary colour that brings a crisp alternative to navy’. Dark and deep blues represent knowledge, power, integrity and also evoke a sense of luxury and meaning.

W.A.Green founder Zoe says she has always had a love affair with midnight blue but has never found a room that can take the full effect. She advises that you’re careful when using it. Another of her favourite hues is Majorelle Blue as seen at Yves St Laurent’s gardens in Marrakech. “Blue has the ability to brighten up a dull day and make the most of blue skies and there are lots of complementary colours including yellow,” she explains. ”Accessorising and styling with blue is also really easy and I’d say that it’s a great choice for those that don’t want to stick to a specific colour scheme.”

Not got time to paint? Well, in that case, it’s time to try your hand at incorporating some of those blue hues in your own abode. Here’s five blue interior accessories to add to your wishlist.
