Summer is here!!! That’s cause for celebration, isn’t it? To get us in the mood and feeling as perky as the field of sunflowers, we're championing the ultimate happy colour - YELLOW!

What does yellow mean?

Yellow is the colour of sunshine and is commonly associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy, which makes it a bold choice for kitchens, dining rooms and hallways. It can be extremely welcoming, which is why it also makes a great choice for any space you share with other people.

Yellow is a naturally confident colour and people who choose to wear yellow are generally seen as self-assured and youthful - perhaps why the queen chooses to wear it so often, eh?

And finally, who can resist feeling joy at a huge field of yellow sunflowers...

How can you incorporate yellow?

Yellow can easily go a little wrong so it’s important that you test all the hues in your home before committing to a set colour. Zoe says, “I've discovered a new love for yellow, the stronger the better and am increasingly drawn to the more egg yolk and earthy ochre shades. Last year we saw yellow being introduced as a partner for millennial pink but we're already moving away from that and I can see myself using it with rusty reds and bright cardinal pinks". Adding a touch of grey stone cement colour will help to ground this scheme and keep it looking elegant and timeless, especially if you're decorating an older property with narrow rooms and a lack of natural light.

Not got time to paint? Well, in that case, it’s time to try your hand at incorporating some of those pops of yellow instead. Here’s five bright and bold yellow accessories to add to your wishlist.
