MAGIC OF NEON
Neon is having a moment. We've always loved it here at W.A.Green and we were delighted to read that Pinterest reported an 800% increase in searches for 'Neon Rooms' last year. We've long been nourished by neon's out of body escape properties and it's easy to understand why in the grip of a pandemic we're all after a hit of something to take us away from the norm. There's nothing like a jolt of an electric glow on a grey day as an invitation to revel in the hyperreal. Neon sets out what a place is about, it stakes it's claim to a space and it's set to be big news in homes in 2021.
Call us trailblazers or just simple colour lovers (we don't mind either!) but we've known for a long time the positive effect a pop of colour can have on your mood. We're not talking 90's basement rave here instead, how an unexpected flash of neon added to a simple neutral colour scheme can bring a touch of drama to your home.
Let's start with a traditional Moroccan rug, guaranteed to give any room a cosy, lived in feel. This statement design offers a fun style refresh, showing how a colour injection using bright neon coloured wool elevates this classic to something kinda crazy good.
Neon has long been a powerful tool in advertising and is synonymous with leading American cities like Vegas and New York. The art world started falling in love with it's properties in the 60's with work by Keith Sonner and more recently Bruce Nauman and Tracey Emin and now designers have started working with LED that can be used to great effect at home like this Seletti Mouth light by Studio Blow. This would look incredible lighting up your hallway or on a gallery wall to add sass and texture.
The table is a great place to add some awe. Whether it's a pop of colour on some glassware or a splash of neon on some dinner candles it allows you to escape from the day to day.
