10 ways to update your home for Spring
What’s that? Have we spotted a little bit of sun in London? Spring is finally here and we’re welcoming it with open arms. With blossom flourishing and daffodils blooming, it’s not just a time for chicks and lambs, it’s also a time for new beginnings in the home. We love a good spring clean here at W.A.Green and thankfully our homeware lends itself well to a spring update. It’s time to put away the heavy fabrics, thick pile rugs and dark accessories and bring out the lighter and brighter looks for spring. Got the winter blues? Say no more, these top tips will help you get ready for the sunnier season.
1 Add a fresh lick of paint
There’s nothing more uplifting than a fresh coat of paint on the walls, even if it’s the same colour as before. Walls easily attract dirt and marks without you even realising, so a fresh coat can go a very long way. That being said, we love to switch up colours too and if you’re looking to lift your mood and make your mark, fresh and light colours such as pinks, peaches and botanical greens will get you spring ready. Take inspiration from our Shoreditch-based shop and go Californian!
2 Declutter and organise!
A new year means a fresh start and getting ready for spring is certainly not just about aesthetic choices. Take the time to have a good clear-out and sort between items that can be given to charity, recycled or taken straight to the tip. A clear room is a clear mind. Check out our storage options for good looking options; we’re especially digging these blue and pink baskets from Hubsch.
3 Go bright, go bold
We never sway from going bold, but springtime certainly allows you to be a little more playful with your interior choices. Swap those dark and heavy throws for colourful alternatives and update your shelves with bright accessories. Our shelfie section  should be appropriate for those small updates that make a difference. Don’t be afraid to mix it up – follow our motto and go big or go to the boring part of your magnolia home.
4 Update your wall art
More is more when it comes to art in our opinion and sometimes a little move around and update is well and truly in order. Play around with your art work or create a spring moodboard to spark inspiration. If you’re loving your art already, why not just have a quick revamp of your frames by painting them or adding in some different styles?
5 Alternate your cushions
The cushion update! No doubt the most important and the easiest update you can make for spring weather. Ditch the velvet and woollen styles and move towards silks and linens for a softer look and more comfortable setting. Again, we’re pushing the bold factor and we think our selection of Silken Favours are the perfect addition for a more colourful outlook on life.
6 Incorporate florals
Florals might seem like an obvious choice for spring but there is something to be said about adding in flowers to your abode. Flowers = a positive touch. Those looking for an edgier floral will love the Preen homeware collection  which sees a polished, punk-inspired style – better yet most of the collection features a dark and a light colourway making your conversion from winter to spring a whole lot easier.
7 Refresh your tableware
You might not think of refreshing your tableware  in the first instance, but this is a sure way of bringing more spring-like vibes to your aesthetic without blowing the budget. Transitioning from earthy tones to brighter and lighter al fresco style plates and glassware will get you craving to go outdoors and enjoy the weather.
8 Bring the outdoors in
Flowers and plants are clearly a superb way to bring in botanical inspiration, referencing the outdoors and providing fresh scents and rich visuals. However, we think maintaining them can be a little difficult which is why we quite often go faux. Fake flowers and plants have become just as good as the real deal; we quite often catch our customers trying to give ours a sniff. Enough said.
9 Add a spring scent
What do you want your house to smell like? A signature scent can go a long way for making you feel at home but we still think this should be updated to reference the time of year. Spring is all about floral and citrus scents. Coming home to a scent-filled house is like a warm and welcoming hug, so make sure you stock up on aromatic candles that will give off odours, even when not lit.
10 Revamp your garden
While we’re predominantly talking about spring here, it’s always good to start getting ready for summer, and getting your garden ready for the warmer weather / crazy British spurts of sun will ensure you’re ready for any spontaneous BBQs. Think about outdoor furniture with a difference and create a boho aesthetic with candles, lanterns and throws to keep you outside longer as the day turns to dusk.
So there we have it, ten easy interior updates for Spring. Let us know how you get on or pop-in store for more interior design advice. We’re always happy to help.
