Sourcing products in India, Pernille Stolz was always referred to as 'Madam' so decided this was the perfect name for her first shop back in 1995. Since then, Pernille has built the business alongside her husband Peter, 25 employees and Carlo the small dog, producing homeware that couples Danish practicality with an Indian aesthetic evident in all their designs.
Her love of the country has led her to support the Nai Disha project, helping over 450 children and young people gain an education not available by normal means.
For her design process, Pernille states "the contrasts between India and Bornholm are enormous. After returning from India it usually takes a couple of days for all those impressions to settle and then the ideas starts to originate".
We think we're all better off for it.
