MATHILDE CARRON-ASTIER de VILLATTE
Mathilde Carron-Astier de Villatte grew up surrounded by antiquities that her mother Micheline Astier de Villatte and her father Pierre Carron, painter and sculptor collected and reinterpreted.
After exploring the atelier of Georges Jeanclos at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and several exhibitions, Mathilde co-founded the Astier de Villatte company with her brother Jean-Baptiste. A black earth terracotta ceramic collection that quickly made the brand famous for shaking the traditional codes of faience pottery.
Mathilde created more than 400 models for their company before leaving in 2005 to set up her own Carron brand. Each piece is 100% made by hand in France and care is taken not to harm our beautiful planet during the process. All are Made using black terracotta and white lead free alimentary enamel and every piece is signed by Mathilde.
